Unspoken Love Partners with CRIT to Enhance Safety for Children with Autism

In this article, we explore the collaborative initiative between Unspoken Love and the Birmingham VA Police Department aimed at enhancing safety for children with autism. The training session, led by MaSheeka Bone, CEO of Unspoken Love, along with Cpl. Rogers and Sgt. Yearwood from the Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT) team, focused on educating law enforcement officers and community stakeholders about autism spectrum disorder and its unique behaviors. Participants learned vital skills such as recognizing stimming behaviors, understanding sensory sensitivities, and employing effective de-escalation techniques.
